Who We Are

Hamish Thomsen (Director) is a Chartered Accountant with a farming background who recently moved back to the Hawke’s Bay after a 5 year stint working for a boutique accounting firm in Wellington. Clients ranged from pharmacies, retail outlets, cafes, start-ups to small family owned and operated businesses. Before this Hamish was working in Taupō working in the farm accounting sector, looking after predominantly dairy and sheep/beef farmers.

At Thomsens Chartered Accountants our mission is to make the accounting experience ‘hassle-free’ and ‘jargon-free’ for clients no matter what working sector they’re in. This means we want our clients to walk out the door with a full understanding of their business performance and how they can improve.

Hamish is always thinking of ways to ease the pain of collating clients’ accounting records. The availability of cloud software packages such as Xero has meant clients can free up time to focus more on their business. This is also a great tool for Hamish to provide some timely advice to see how their business is performing on every financial level.
